POLICE ACTIVITIES FOR JANUARY, FEBRUARY AND MARCH, 2009

On January 27th, Chief O’Donnell hosted the Prince Georges Municipal Chiefs meeting in the Gold Room.

In February, 2009 Officer Adrian Curtis became a Glenarden police officer to keep our authorized strength of nine Maryland certified police officers.  We are still providing seven day a week coverage to the City.

PFC Taylor completed is training for the Explorers Program and is still looking for young people between the ages of 13-18 who are interested in learning about law enforcement.   As a participate in this program, you will get hands on experience at “special events”, the “county fair” and visits to the police academy and also do “ride-along” with the police officers.  This experience could possibly lead to a career in law enforcement.  Officer Taylor is anxious to have five (5) young people join this program for a life enrichment experience.

PFC Richardson is “Officer Friendly” at Glenarden and Judge Sylvanin Woods Elementary School for its students.  He visits the schools, checking on the students and encouraging them in a positive way.  The teachers applaud Officer Richardson for his interest in the young people and instilling positive goals for them.  Most recently, one class was rewarded for their improvement in doing their homework.

In July, Cpl. Spence completed the development of the “message board” and is waiting for citizens to sign in with questions for the Department.  You can use this program by logging into:  www.yahoo.com; go to Groups then search Glenarden Police Department.

On March 19th, Cpl. Spence, PFC Richardson and PFC Taylor received certificates for completing a Supervisory Investigation/Basic Internal Investigation Course which was given by the Hyattsville Police Department.

Our fingerprinting services are available five (5) days a week, 10:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Only money orders, credit cards and/or debit cards are acceptable payment.  Checks and cash are not accepted.
