Executive Office of the Mayor Announces Affordable Connectivity Program Offering Free Tablets to Eligible Residents

The Executive Office of the Mayor is pleased to announce the launch of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at ensuring that all residents have access to the digital resources they need to thrive in today's interconnected world. In partnership with local businesses and organizations, this program offers eligible residents the opportunity to receive free tablets, bridging the digital divide and promoting digital inclusion within our community.

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the critical importance of reliable internet access and digital devices for education, employment, healthcare, and social engagement. Recognizing this need, Mayor Cross has made it a priority to provide affordable connectivity options for all residents.

1. Eligibility Criteria: The program is open to City of Glenarden residents who meet specific eligibility criteria, which include employment status (recent W-2), participation in government assistance programs: Women Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC), Food Stamps, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Tribal status or Veterans status (copy of DD214 or equivalent discharge document).

2. Application Process: Residents interested in participating in the program can apply by emailing city@cityofglenarden.org or contact the City Hall at (301)773-2100

This initiative reflects the city's commitment to building a stronger, more resilient community and ensuring that all residents have the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
