City of Glenarden, MD

COMMUNITY INFORMATION: Letter to Citizens of Glenarden (Carjacking Incident)

Greetings to the Citizens of Glenarden,

I am aware that many of you have come across or heard about the recent inaccurate story broadcasted by Fox 5 and circulated on social media. The report in question concerning a UPS Truck Driver allegedly being carjacked in the City of Glenarden on November 9th.

It has come to our attention that the address mentioned in the coverage, the 9000 block of Elk Avenue, is not in the City of Glenarden jurisdiction but rather to Westphalia community, closer to Upper Marlboro.

The Glenarden Administration promptly contacted FOX 5 to rectify the address error, and we are pleased to inform you that they have made the necessary corrections. The updated information now accurately reflects that the incident occurred in Westphalia. We do extend our apologies for the misinformation.

While some may view this as a minor issue, we believe in ensuring that our citizens are treated fairly and accurately represented in all aspects.

Sincerely,

Regis Bryant
Chief of Police
