City ARPA Grant Opportunities Now Available!
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021, will deliver $350 billion to state, local and tribal governments to aid in recovery from the COVID-19 emergency. The City of Glenarden will receive $4 million as a part of the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program.  City Council has designated some of those monies as grants for eligible homeowners, businesses, and non-profits.

Back To School Immunization Clinics In Prince George’s County

The Prince George's County Health Department is pleased to announce the launch of its highly anticipated back-to-school flu and immunization clinic initiative, which aims to prioritize the health and well-being of students as they prepare to return to the classroom for the upcoming school year.

The Health Department offers comprehensive services, including routine childhood immunizations to protect against childhood diseases, and COVID-19 vaccinations. Also, flu shots will be available for County residents aged six months and older. Services are offered to residents with limited or no health insurance. Additionally, the clinics operate on a sliding fee scale based on income, ensuring every child can access essential vaccines regardless of their financial situation.

The Health Department remains steadfast in ensuring every child can access the necessary vaccines for a successful school year. This year, the Health Department is offering extended weekend and evening hours for the back-to-school clinics.

UCAP (United Communities Against Poverty) offers a home weatherization program that can reduce your energy costs.  By sealing gaps, adding insulation, and improving your heating and cooling system, weatherization of your home can reduce your energy consumption and lower your utility bills.  See the UCAP flyer in this newsletter for information on eligibility and how to submit an application to UCAP. Elderly Property Tax Credit Program

Are you a homeowner over the age of 65? If so, you may be eligible for the County’s new Elderly Property Tax Credit program. Effective July 1, 2023, Prince George's County will provide up to a 20% credit of the County portion of the property tax bill, inclusive of any Homeowners and Homestead Credit, for up to 5 years.

Applications must be received by October 1st of the fiscal year the credit is sought.

Blue Line Corridor Youth Sports Fieldhouse RFP

Prince George’s County is excited to share a new procurement opportunity for local businesses as we continue to make strides in developing new amenities for our Blue Line Corridor (BLC)! This RFP seeks a highly qualified Architecture/Engineering firm to provide the Preliminary Design Services for our Youth Sports Fieldhouse. Local, small, and minority-owned businesses are encouraged to apply. Submissions are due by October 4. Alsobrooks Youth Leadership Institute

The Alsobrooks Youth Leadership Institute (AYLI) is a 21-member body of Prince George’s Proud youth from throughout the County. AYLI is a diverse group of youth (ages 14-17, grades 9-11) from different backgrounds - ethnic, economic, and social who are serious about the lives of youth in our County and interested in County government. 

The program is an intense immersion-learning opportunity in which participants are required to attend 95% of the program meetings, modules, and service activities. AYLI is looking for forward-thinking young people who want to invest in their personal and professional growth while giving back and paying it forward. 

AYLI will represent the best of our youth and those who have a desire to make a positive impact on not just Prince George’s County, but the world. Participants will receive community service hours for school credit. Transportation is not provided.

AYLI Requirements

AYLI is looking for youth with:

  • a strong interest in community service and willingness to serve as a volunteer in their community and for County government;
  • dedicated time to participate and be active in the program;
  • a willingness to develop and share creative solutions for issues involving youth;
  • a commitment to doing what is right for those in need;
  • a willingness to learn about the County and its history, culture, and operations; and
  • an interest in strengthening their leadership skills.

  • One word that best describes you?
  • What issues are you passionate about in your community and why? (no more than 250 words)
  • What do you like to do in your spare time (100 words or less)
  • List of extra-circular activities
  • Completed Participant Information Packet (health/medical forms and waivers)
